Unit 2 Reflection

The relaxation exercise was exactly what I needed to loosen my muscles.  The narrator's voice was calm and soothing as well as the background music.  I was completely in another dimension.  I enjoyed participating in those relaxation exercises in my last course and found them interesting and fun.  There were a lot of mental imagery and deep breathing that made each one different to experience.

I usually exercise or run for relaxation but sometimes hearing the narrator's voice during the relaxation exercises seems more comforting.  I think more people should include some type of relaxation exercise for stress relievers.  I hope you enjoy the relaxation exercise.

Well, this is our second week.  I'm kind of glad I only enrolled in one course for the summer because I wanted to spend time with my family.  Normally, I would tackle two classes at a time but I was getting burnt out from reading and studying and just decided to take a small break.  I'm enjoying the extra time I have either with family or with myself.

  1. Marivic I loved your post I love to lay down before going to bed and read my bible and do a scripture study it helps me relax so much more then I used to before i would make time to do that! I love to spend time with my family even with the three classes I am taking I still make time for my family.

    1. Sallie,

I don't know how you manage three classes and time for family. A lot of time management on your part I'm sure. Two classes, family, and work is enough to manage. I guess if I wanted to finish this degree quickly, I would tackle another class. But I'm in no rush. I'm using my Post 9/11 GI bill. I already have a degree in Human Resources Management. Good luck and look forward to more posts.

  2. Your right about exercising. Maybe something like this would be good for right after a workout as sort of a cooldown type of thing? Spending with the family is always a good idea as well:)

    1. Forest,

Definitely would be great before going to bed because you are fully relaxed. Let me know how it works for you.

  3. Marivic, I also loved the narrators voice and it helped to get to the state of relaxation necessary to be able to feel the differences in how your hands and arms felt when you directed your blood flow. I too believe that everyone should try some type of relaxation technique to help them get through the everyday trials and tribulations of life.

  4. Hi Marivic,
I attempted to do the relaxation technique but right now a bit under the weather with some surgery last week. I do find that the house is quiet right now with no kids or hubby and it is peaceful for me to actually able to comprehend what is going on and reading for class. I did a spa day 2 weeks ago and truly loved the tranquil atmosphere that went with that and soothing sounds of the music and water. I do enjoy pilates and the relaxation behind it and can't wait to get back to that in 2 weeks.

  5. Marvic,
I have a hard time relaxing at all so this exercise was definitely beneficial to me as well. I am the type of person who is constantly thinking "What's next?". While this is helpful to everyone in my life I do have to say it hinder's me in someways.
I also walk to help calm myself down but with such a busy summer I haven't had too much time. I hope you enjoy your semi break with your family!

    1. Tonia,

I just returned from my son's Navy basic training graduation ceremony. The ceremony was beautiful and to see the transformation of my son from being a civilian to becoming a Navy sailor was awesome! I am enjoying the semi break but sometimes I think I could have waited until the winter break to resume and enjoy the entire summer without class assignments. I hope you take the time to enjoy your summer break with family and by yourself.
